Does anyone know of any campsites or large state parks / national in the Midwest or New England?
I live in Ohio, it would be good to go somewhere close. I like all ranges including primitive camping.
In Ohio and the larger lower lakes, you'll find parks state are more accessible than the national parks. At least when it comes to camping. For a variety of camping options, try the U.S. Forest Service. Wayne National Forest is in southern Ohio, Marietta, Athens and Ironton are the key points of entry. Maumee State Park (just outside Toledo) is a modern camp on Lake Erie, and comprehensive services - The beach, boats, etc. outside Lorain Findley State Park is one of the most primitive of the state parks for camping. It's still a great time. Hocking HIlls groups (nr Athens) are primitive to modern and offer a wide range of excursions and outdoor experiences as they are mixed with the national forest. If you are close to Indiana, the Forest Hoosier National offers a variety of experiences (Bedford, Bloomington access). New to the southern part of the state. Campsites are very modern, unless you find the 1 and 2 dotted the landscape of the roads. These are very primitive. Pennsylvania has the Allegheny National Forest (north, east of Erie.'s Camps are less developed and the most tough. Kentucky (land between the lakes - Boone NF) and Michigan (Hiawatha, Huron-Manistee, Ottawa) are at the extremes of the states and offer great variety and many opportunties primitive.

I'm taking a vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where to go?
I live in the mitten of Michigan in August and am planning to go to UP for about a week. Now I want opinions what are the best places to go? I'm thinking of something that has a lot of the landscapes of nature. It is possible to camp.
Ooooh! Just got back from our trip to Michigan for 4th of July! There are all sorts of things to see and do in Michigan, is a charming place. You can not go to Michigan without seeing the Mackinac Bridge, and a sweet sampling of its fine sugar. Presque Isle State Park is a national natural landmark. They have a beautiful 32,000 acres of the peninsula sand that falls right on Lake Erie! I found both online research before starting our family trips. A good deal of information that can help with your search, to places of great http://www.allofmichigan.com have fun and good luck!
