camping grand canyon winter

Grand Canyon, Taos, Oklahoma Panhandle in late December?
Think of a 7-to-10 day winter break camp in northern Arizona and New Mexico, reaching as in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico all meet, more or less. We have equipment for winter camping car (Dodge van). No 4WD, no snow tires. That will be fine? What kind of altitude, temperatures and snow conditions to be found? In addition, many camps are seasonal. Are we going to have trouble finding places to launch a tent?
All I know is on the Panhandle. Not sure about the camps, but I can tell it is very cold in the Panhandle during the winter, probably ... not receive a lot of snow ... but the wind is very strong ... the blows of a Usually 20-30 ... gusts up to 60 or 70 and it's cold.
Grand Canyon winter hike 2007. Lots of SNOW!
