camping and woodcraft

Camping is considered one of the oldest hobbies of Americans. It began in the 1800s when people had makeshift homes in the woods and live with nature. Back then it was their way of life, but today, we do as a leisure activity.
It is a fact that means of camping as well as tools and equipment have changed over the centuries. As we become more dependent on technology, more efficient equipment are used at the campsite.
The pioneers of camping are the Native Americans, who also introduced the art of "woodcraft" that is the skills necessary for survival in nature. These skills include the construction of housing woodwork and how to fish, among other things. It's basically a course survival.
The most drastic change with respect to the techniques of today refers to equipment used in the campsite. Native Americans began with camping gear homemade and possibly create and designed their own tools to help them survive in the wild. Compared with this, the backpacker of today has a wide range of equipment to choose from the sporting goods store. Modern equipment is usually complex and highly specialized.
Comparing the camping equipment used from the old to the new, there are two fundamental differences. One, the material used in the manufacture of equipment. At that time the materials used are leather, cotton and silk. Now, camping equipment uses synthetic fibers such as nylon and polyester. Secondly, there is a difference in design. Now, we have complex designs for our camping gear, which probably can have more than ten properties. Although at that time, the design was simpler and easier to use.
Despite these changes, one thing remained constant. The main reason why people camp outdoors, yet have not changed over the years. People have the need to be one with nature, to get back to basics and try to survive with nature and experience the elements more human companionship with family members or friends.
But what has changed this is the way to go.
Now, we have equipment that can be very useful and easy work of camping. We have the technology today to do this. We have air mattresses, sleeping bags and tents campaign that can withstand any season or weather conditions. Having a stove saves you the hassle in building a fire from scratch to warm and cook dinner.
When compared to the old days, people are so confident in their knowledge and personal skills to survive in nature, because there is a lack of equipment available to do it for them. Perhaps the most important contribution that modern backpackers given to other campers is "Leave politics of No Trace '. People now are more aware of the importance of nature and are doing something to counteract the damage caused by previous generations and present.
The "Stop the policy of the No Trace" you must clean up after yourself every time you go camping. Bring garbage bags and do not leave garbage and food scraps around. Basically, when you leave a campsite must be the same as for the first time standing on it.
