What type of camping gear, equipment and essential elements I need?

I am taking my family camping in a few weeks. What type of camping equipment I need? I have a small list of what I have so far: 1. Tent 2. Sleeping bags 3. and 4 silver plates. (food, but what kind?)

insect repellent, sunscreen, warm clothing and cold Ponchos often cold at night, depending on where you are. in case of rain, reeds Fishing, pots and pans, how will you cook? in the open fire in a grill? in a camp stove? You may need to charcoal, firewood, propane as a function of what and how you will cook. Toilet paper, air mattresses and pump, paper towels, hot dogs are easy meal. Refrigerator drinks and water. It all depends on how much you want rough. Oh, and do not forget the garbage bags.

How do I know the size of my hot water heater in my motorhome?

I need to know if it is 6 or 10 gallons. I can not look in the manual the truck owner me 4 or 5 and the manual is long gone. I tried searching on the heater for the size, but all information is ether burned from the hot metal, or lost in time. My truck is over 30 years old and the water heater needs replacing. NOTE ... scraping is not an option. It is a caravan holiday is my home.

If you're like most of them I've seen you can not measure as it is installed. would look at the model # or if not removed the unit and measure the space you have and install the 10 gallon, if space permits.

What are good places to camp near Los Angeles?

I'm looking to go tent within 3 hours drive from Los Angeles, I car camp, I have no reservations and is a weekend, and I would be near the trees (as opposed to the beach). Better would be any forest National or similar area where I have a lot of options for camping without a lot of commercial traffic, RV, etc. or in a place that requires reservations. Maybe Big Bear or Idlewild?

If you do not have reservations, probably completely out of luck. See the National Parks website to see if there are open spots, I'd be surprised if any. There are some camps the KOA I-10 outside Palm Springs, but also can be filled. You may want to try the Ventura County areas around , Ojai, and Santa Maria are very picturesque, and do not get traffic Idlewild, Arrowhead and Big Bear get. Ojai is an hour drive from Los Angeles, so not too far.
