Florida ... swim in fresh water, with their dogs?

I plan to go camping with my 2 dogs, Tom and Tyson, for a weekend, days 4 i next. Where I go to Florida or Georgia the southern end (maybe) we can take the dogs to swim with us? we're in the Tampa area, so anywhere within 6 hours drive is ideal.

I would not take my dogs swimming in Florida or southern Georgia .... gator bait can be said?
